In my own headcanon, not only was the Pharaoh at peace at the after life, but the present incarnation of his most loyal friends as well. I was inspired by the finale's ending theme so putting all the shattered pieces of my heart aside, I imagined Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl and Magical Guardian smiling to the sunset--knowing well that their beloved king had already crossed over and is happy in the company of his old friends.
For a little backstory: Mayu and Yami Yugi had a brief tag-team at one point during the Battle City tournament, where Magical Guardian assisted Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl. Before the ceremonial battle, Mayu offered the card to Atem, understanding who it was to him and for wanting to aid him in her own way. In their past lives, Araana is also a loyal friend and servant of the king and the prince and later on, Pharaoh Atem himself.
Okay wow this took a lot of effort okay ;v; how long has it been since I've drawn something so detailed and... carefully colored and shaded OTL Dark Magician is an achievement. Considering that this is my first time drawing him. In fact, almost everyone is a first time. I haven't drawn Dark Magician girl for so long so it's still like a first time yusss /o/
