JIANG IS BACK!
With her updated design and for this season, her hanfu for this winter <3
Hanfu is a type of clothing worn by women in China. It is one of China's traditional clothing and probably the most elegant, if I may say.
Updates on her design:
I've practiced drawing peafowls (KFP style, that is) and tried to play around with the kind of eyes I would give Jiang. This here, she's squinting a bit so it looks small but in her actual design, it's a little bigger though I still stuck if to oriental-shaped eyes. I like these eyes better because I could play with it on whatever emotion I could portray her with.
And her brown tuft is, from her original design being curled to one side, I've decided that I scatter it on the right side of her face to look more like feathers or something. Also, because it's easier being consistent. With her earlier design, there are certain angles which looks awkward on the tuft part.
Lastly, the way her chest plumes are colored/blended/whatever it is XD. Like the tufts, it's easier to be consistent with this.

I modeled her hanfu from the ones I see around the internet. I kept it close to her color scheme of blue and gold while trying not to make it look too boring or something. The Tai Chi sword is a new addition to her weaponry and I took this opportunity to introduce it. Initially, she uses it when doing Tai Chi in the mountains but then, she uses it as well in combats. She keeps it in her robe and takes it out only if her spear is unavailable. The fan thing was random. I just wanted to draw her with it.. but I'm also considering if she should also use metal fans for weapons. Her fan here is modeled from one I actually own but instead of cherry blossoms, mine has trees and calligraphy.
And yeah, I actually added a background.
Those mountains at the background were actually inspired by the mountain range we passed by when we went to Ngong Ping 360 at Hong Kong via cable car. I added the frost because it looked too plain without them. Also, I'm really proud of those leafless branches with snow and frost. They were random brush strokes at Photoshop but they turned out really nice
So yep! There you have it, the improved Jiang. It's thanks to all those supportive people why I decided to update her design around 2-3 weeks ago. I've also been practicing peafowls so I could draw Jiang and others better. I appreciate any feedback on this! I worked really hard on this piece. Please don't hesitate to critique.
